Home Away

Courtesy of a good friend, Mike, who rented an apartment for us, Columbus was our home base when we were in the USA. The apartment was set in a beautiful housing complex surounded by a city forest that show cased the best of the changing seasons of Ohio: Spring that was wintry in the beginning then turned gorgeous towards the end, followed by a very hot summer. There were days for catching up with school work and experimenting with food in the kitchen as well super nice for exploring the forest surrounding us and the city of Columbus. We also had days that were filled with storm warnings that got Digi panicking and made him camped inside the bathroom with his books. But otherwise the forest home was a place to rest, catch-up and recharge.

Snowed home

Real fluffy March snow for Digital to play with

Goodness, hailed in April

Spring on earth, winter came down from the sky

Then the forest slowly came alive

with white flowers

yellow flowers among new green leafs

Fast growing plants with purple flowers on the forest floor

Another flower: yellow orchid straight from the forest floor

Ducks in the pond

Green flowers hanging on branches

Spring in full bloom

A dear came out from the forest ... probably it had smelled our dinner.

Think mid-summer foliage - just like the rain forest back home in Malaysia

Summer garden flowers

We will always have fond memories of our forest home in Columbus, Ohio.

    1. Lynn, we really have awesome time, especially walking the forest. The changing seasons is so fascinating, and so fast, from bare branches to full of flowers and leaves. It is something that we don't see here in Malaysia, which is hot all year round, and green all the time - great too of course, but different experience.

  4. Wonderful photos -- I think Ohio is a wee bit prettier than Illinois where I grew up.

    1. Does Illinois border Ohio, Patricia? Let me get my map. Ooh dear, there is Ohio, Illinois (giggling). Let me see again ;)

Ahh, the state West of Ohio is Indiana. We did go to Indianapolis to meet up with a friend from Illinois, (Springfield). There was less wooded areas even in Indiana compared to Ohio. Indiana looked like a corn country, is Illinois the same Patricia?

  8. Thank you "auntyamo" ... laugh, you are too young to be called aunty by me, but in our culture sometime we do call someone younger with a tittle for someone older, on behalf of our children; so I do so on behalf of degital then ;)
